On Friday 22 November 2019 the Tuscany region in collaboration with the European Association of the Via Francigena Ways will hold a conference â10 years of the Tuscan Francigena Action plan. Perspectives, critical issues, experiment results". The meeting will take place in Florence at the headquarters of the Tuscany Region at Via Farini 8, Palazzina - Piano interrato, room S02. This event takes place in the framework of the programme "Toscana in Cammino 2019-20".
Routes development and sustainable enhancement of the territories play an important role in planning of cultural and tourist policies at European, national and local level. That is why this conference is aimed at municipalities, universities, schools and associations involved in the development of the Via Francigena route.
The conference is divided into two sessions. The morning session, coordinated by Francesco Tapinassi, manager of the Economic and Tourism Promotion Sector, will bring together the Municipalities leading the four aggregations of the Via Francigena in Tuscany and will enhance the contribution of the Municipalities along the Via Francigena. The session will begin by the intervention of the president of the European Association of the Via Francigena Ways (EAVF), Massimo Tedeschi. The work focus will be introduced by Stefano Ciuoffo, Councilor for Productive Activities, Tourism and Trade in his speech "Tuscan Via Francigena, state of the art and development perspectives".
The afternoon session, coordinated by Francesco Gazzetti, Regional Councilor delegate for the Via Francigena, will start with the contribution of Sami Tawfik, EAVF project manager and Francigena Service coordinator, with an update about the ongoing projects.
One of the important conference discussion topics is the UNESCO World Heritage candidacy of the Via Francigena which will be presented by Roberto Ferrari, Director of the Tuscany Region Cultural Department and by Prof. Paola Eugenia Falini from the Sapienza University of Rome.
Monsieur Andrea Migliavacca, bishop of the Diocese of San Miniato and delegate for the Ecclesial Region of Tuscany for the implementation of the Pastoral care for sport, leisure and routes, will address a speech "Via Francigena â the route of pilgrimage".
A light buffet is provided between the morning and afternoon sessions. The next appointment, entitled "Tuscany on the route 2019. Model of sustainable growth of the territories. The regional routes policies and the Routes of the Regions of Central Italy" is scheduled in Florence on Friday 13 December 2019.
